Is it necessary or do you just balance charge them?

I'm not familiar with them enough.

Thanks,

Bill

Bill, you don't have to discharge them, just balance charge them each time. they will die if you discharge completely but they are not like a lipo as far as being touchy to cut off voltage. Rick

Bill, I cycle mine the first time to make sure they charge and hold to the correct 'mah' rating. I know they say you may not have to, but for me it's peace of mind in a boat or more often my planes.

I'm talking LiFe batteries, not Lipo or Nimh. I'm having trouble even finding a discharger to use on a LiFe battery.

Bill I use the Hyperion 615 Duo3 at home and the V6AC charger on the road because it has a built in power supply, and it's cheap at 65.00.

Both will cycle LiFe batteries.

* Built-In USB DataPort and supplied USB cable

* Hardware support for EOS Control & Data Suite PC Software

* 20 Memory slots for batteries per port (40 total)

* CYCLE mode for LiFePO4 and LiPo

* Max Current per port raised from 10A to 15A

V6AC Spec's,

Specifications:

- Input voltage: DC 11-18.0V

AC 100-240V

- charge power: max.50W

- Discharge power: max.5W

- Discharge current range: 0.1~1.0A

- Charge current range: 0.1-5.0A

- Current drain for balancing LiPo: 300mAh/cell

Bill,

You dont have to cycle them.. just not ANYTHING like the old cells.

I make 5 runs.. and then recharge and note the usage. My scale uses about 50 to 60mah per run.
