Hey Guys,

Here we go. Time for the second SAW race of the year at Legg Lake in El Monte CA. The Date is August 6th and 7th from first light to dark.

Anyone is invited Nitro, Gas and Electric, so bring your fastest boats and set a new Straight-A-Way record! :)

Email Mark Grim with your entries, we would like to have a running order list set up before the event. So let us know which boats you are bringing!

If you would like BBQ lunch, please let us know when you email your entries so Kim can get an idea of how many will be attending and how much lunch to stuff all you guys with! :)

The lunch will be $10.00 a person you will not go home hungry as all you guys know if you have come to the previous SAW and 2 Lap events.

Please email Mark Grim: [email protected]

Tyler,

I hear some really fast electrics are showing up this weekend.

There may even be a fast 45 hydro also.

I hope you guys have great weather and water.

Enjoy The Weekend,

Mark Sholund

Well the August SAW's are typically the toughest to set records in and this year was no different from previous years. We had decent water for about 3 hours in the morning before the wind picked up. This year we had a problem with heavy fog from the warm water and colder air temps in the morning tripping the sensors. As soon as the fog stopped the air was OK for a short period but quickly turned nasty in the afternoon heat.

Overall there were a number of new records set mostly in the P-limited classes which are a recent addition to the NAMBA roster. Mark Grim did set a new GX-2 record with his Grim Reaper/CC powered rigger around 105 and change with a one way pass of 106+. The pass was made in poor water conditions so in October we expect a little more. Mark made an easy 126mph pass with his X-hydro, but decided to wait for better conditions. Don Maher made two dozen passes with his GX-1 gear drive rigger with speeds consistent in the upper 90's. Don also tried running his X hydro, but the poor air confined the rigger to I tried running my S hydro, however radio and thermal issues kept me from making an decent passes.

Thanks for the update Tyler.

Hopefully you got 'some' info to help tweak for trials in October.

Best,

DJ
