I am new to rc hydro's and have about 5 K&B out boards, why are people not interseted in these? is it hard to find parts?

Inconsistent parts supply has dogged them for a few years now. Plus they no longer have a monopoly as there are other engines out there.

Parts can be found it takes knowing the right person, I have bought various parts for my three k/b outboards through Tom Galdys he seems to have a lot of k/b stuff, bearings, piston sleeves, lowers etc. But I will have to say the new .21 Outboard OS Max is sure making a name for itself. It seems almost impossible to get certain parts through K/B directly they always are to be in production or discontinued. It is also hard to pony up 400.00 bucks for a new OS Max these days.

OS 21XM outboard is the only Sport Outboard available new. That being said, it MSRP for around $400. The K&B SS was really a great motor, but I don't know anyone selling them new. They take some time to get it setup right, as any tunnel will, but then it will keep up with stock OS. If you've got 5 then you probably have all the parts you need. If not, I know someone with parts if you need them. I personally run a K&B SS and have 3 friends that also run K&B SS. I placed 2nd at the IndyMasters to a screaming OS.

"OS 21XM outboard is the only Sport Outboard available new. That being said, it MSRP for around $400." And let's not forget TT(Thunder Tiger) Still under $200.00 buck's and a reliable engine - proven all year.. Will definately keep-up with Stock & Mod. :D

Like Beau said you can get parts for the K&B just knowing who like Tom Galdys and the Grims in Cali they just walk into Mecoa and get the parts they are here just knowing where to get also Gary Prusse has them also.

is there a reason why no one runs the cmb rs outboard? are parts readily available for this motor? what pipes are working with the .21 rs outboard? can Stu get them for us?

I run a CMB .21 RS Outboard on that Lynx <<<--- Over and Up there. It runs strong and I havent needed parts. I have a Cooper pipe on it and Lawless lower unit.

Last I talked with Stu that motor was discontinued due to low sales. It is a great motor!

You can also try the rossi 3.5 ob from Dave at hyperformance. 189.00 for power head. Ive run these for years with good luck. Plus Dave has parts.

Yeah, but I ran em for years... :D

They are ok, just the lack of easily available parts, and lack of close tolerance parts/old styling (2 piece cases still...) just dont do it for me personally. Run whatever you can get your hands on at this point. Its a heck of a lot more fun to run laps, than to not run laps!

You shouldn't have to 'know' people to buy parts for an engine. Point in case, the OS = tower hobbies, anyone can get them easily.

If you have 5 of them, run the heck out of them till you cant anymore. Thats pretty much what I did, then I made the change.

James, for what its worth, i just bolted a K&B on the back of a new tunnel...ive got 2 spare motors and a few parts, and im gonna run the CRAP out of em till theres no way i can fix em.......then ill get an O.S.....it is a SHAME that K&B wont get off thier ASSES (yes, they still exsist) and get some motors and parts going again......i really like my SS motors, but the O.S. motors do run mighty fine....they should for close to 400.00! :)

Yep it is a shame that k&b wont get off their asses,i run 3.5,7.5,16cc k&b they are good motors.

what is the problem with k&b?

Bill do what i did bought a used O.S. then gave it to Gene and now have a very fast motor.
Robert , i should have taken your advice a while back...had 2 chances to buy a couple of O.S. motors that looked like new for 200.00 each and like a dummy, i didnt....... Guess ill just have to deal with gettin beat by you guys in 20 tunnel till i get one!
