Bobby Tom, former service manager for K&B Mfg and now with Airtronics, called this morning to inform me of the passing of John Brodbeck, Sr. on Tuesday, November 2. John was the long time owner of K&B Mfg. before it was sold to Bill Benett and later to it's current owner.

Mr. Brodbeck was 91 at the time of his death. The last few years he had been living with his daughter in the Los Angeles area. I first met Mr. Brodbeck in 1969 at a model boat race at Legg Lake, California. The K&B line of model marine engines, especially the introduction of model outboard engines, had a great impact on the hobby/sport of r/c model boating.

Jerry, That is sad, another legend passes,

My best wishes go out to his family and friends,

Gene ;)

My sympathies to their family and friends. It would be hard to find anyone in R/C boating that hasn't owned a K&B powerplant at one time.

That is terrible news. I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to John when he came & raced in Australia. The sport has lost a great ambassador :(
