For those of you who follow the JAE threads you have probably seen the pics of the strut that I designed and built for my boat. After I posted the pics there was alot of interest in it and many requests to have me build and sell them to those interested. At first I was not going to sell any but after thinking about it I decided to make some and sell them.I have a list of those that requested them and have started on them. Now here is where it gets good, really good. Today I spoke with Joe Petro from Zippkits and we came to an agreement that he will be offering my design of strut for all that want it. Joe is a great person to deal with and with his manufacturing ability it only makes sense for him to market them along with the kits.I believe this will be a great opportunity for those who are getting onboard with the JAE.

I will still provide my struts to anyone that wants to get one from me. I will also offer custom made peices to your specs on request. If you have something you need but can't find it, it is possible I may be able to help by making something that will take its place.

I will be contacting everyone on my list and giving them the option on which strut they want to purchase.

So thats it,now go build a boat.

Jim

good deal Jim. cant wait to get mine lol! speaking of witch ill be at the pond tomorrow lol

How much will these be? I have not drilled my tub yet, and I personally don't care much for the strut I bought. It is huge!

Jim,

It's a nice strut for sure. It puts the prop where the boat designer wants it. Looking at other available struts for the JAE 21, I think I will solder my own strut the "old school" way to get the prop located correctly. I was curious what bushings you use, the bore size of the strut, and the thickness of the aluminum between the bearing and bottom of the strut. I think I am going to use Octura's 1/4" o.d. lead teflon bushings for mine. I know people say brass makes a faster bushing, but I'm not total convinced yet. Though, I have been convinced to not use the teflon liners for the flex cables anymore.

Thanks.

jim, what kind of time frame until i can get one? should be getting my order from joe next week (i'm #16 on the 1st run :D ). i'm gonna e-mail joe & see how soon his will be available, then decide which way to go. thanx for the great design & allowing joe to copy/offer it to us!!

Blackout,

The bore size is 1/4" and I suggest a crossdrilled brass bushing although the lead teflon works well also. There is approx. .060 wall thickness between the bushhing and the bottom of the strut.I normally would leave it up to the buyer to decide what they want to use but I can provide brass bushings.I can also provide them to your requirements ie. mount point length and some optional materials (Delrin Nylon etc.)I love to do one off custom stuff for people because it is more challenging to design and build.

Robin, I will give you a call tomorrow.

Jim,

Thanks Again for the beautiful custom one off strut.

It is truly an AWESOME STRUT. Jim does GREAT WORK.

How is that propeller working for you? It may need

a little more pitch for the 18 motor. If it does,

just send it back and I will re-pitch it for you.

You may want to try one of our newest JAE-propellers

on that set up.

Thanks,

Mark Sholund

Mark,

I am glad you like the strut and thanks for the positive feedback. The prop is working better than anything I have in the box but I think you might be right about needing more pitch. But I will wait until I get my new motor and see how it works. If you need anything else or need that strut adjusted let me know.Maybe you could post a pic of that strut when you get it mounted.

Alden,No the motor is not stock and it is not going to be in the boat much longer. It will go back into a Vegas when I get my new motor.I saw your posts on modding these little engines and I have done them plus some other little tricks. What are the stock timing numbers for these things, from what i remember they are pretty low.The last test running I did last weekend I would say it was running 50ish,I dont have a radar gun or GPS.I think I can get more out of her just haven't had time.

Jim

Jim have you ran it after our last race? Im just wondering cause I remember "SOMEONES" CV-RM eating an AQU lol!!! ( at least in open water the only time we stayed rught side up lol!

Jeremy I cant say that was much of a race with the wind and the leaves,I dont think I made more than 2 laps the whole time. We went down to the test pond after leaving there just to work out a few bugs and did get it going pretty good but I think you are a bit faster. That will change in e few weeks when I get my new motor back from the builder. Do you still want a strut,I am starting another run monday.

Jim

LOL yea I just had to *** at ya there, it would have been a great race and the weather held out. And of course I want one. I have mine all torn down prepping for paint so now IS the time to install it. Pm me with price and stuff! thanks!

Jim, I got my strut in the mail and love it so far. The quality is great, and I especially like the polished finish you put on it. The sleeve is a bit tight, but that is way better than being a bit loose. I will hone it out a bit to mate with my stub shaft.
