There was some 1/4" foam board from the Dollar Tree remaining after an auction hosted by my Kiwanis Club. Having seen many r/c profile model airplanes, I decided to try designing/building one. I have a good supply of model airplane motors, escs, and servos after crashing my share of RTR airplane.
The wing span was 36" and it was 30" long. I used CA glues and Gorilla Glue to build it. I've done enough models to know about where the CG should be on a wing. It was rudder/elevator/motor and it actually took off and gained about 200' of altitude. After about 15 or 20 seconds, the wing folded followed by a rather steep decent to the ground. Other than a broken prop, smashed fiber board, and an appreciation for wing loading, all the on board equipment survived.
