o.k i have a question for you guy's that own/build/play with jae .12 hulls.... i need the rear ski measurement's,,,

overall,,,

length?

hieght? (which i assume is the most rear)

width at widest point? (which again i assume is the most rear)

how much of the ski over hangs the transom to cover the strut the way they do?

now you know what they say about assume??? so correct me if im wrong please...

i would like to try a rear ski off of a jae on my home made rigger...

thanks for any info..

Set the boat on a table.....when the bottom of the boat is parallel with the table ,that is the depth of the ski......

The overhang of the ski off the back of the transom is whatever it takes to have the strut just sit on the top rear edge of the ski sheeting...

The length of the ski is not critical as long as it ends up somewhere under the motor......the width is one inch.[1"]

thank you rod,, i appriciate the info sir... i have a rigger here with conventional skis..(one on each side) i cant for the life of me get this thing to run with the skis... im gathering that it just drags the transom under water,,not letting the prop un-wind...

if i tear the skis off,, it will come up on step,, so i figured i would try the center ski,,, all else fails,, im sticking with no ski's... ... i have major issues getting any rigger to run for some reason,,,thats why i try not to mess with them much...

The best of luck......the ski is just a small part of the puzzle........

If you are running a traditional hydro design the rear sponsons on your boat are not the only problem you have......

Your remark that you have major issues with any rigger you run is what prompted the design of the JAE.....

Get a Zippkits JAE .12 hydro kit or a set of .12 plans, put it together per the instructions and run it....all the mystery in running a hydro just disappears....

I flat guarantee you would be a very very happy boater.....

yep... i said it,,, all riggers ive touched ive had no success with and end up more frustrated than anything... ive had success with all hull designs except the rigger... it shy's me away from buying new stuff every time... maybe one day rod ill buy one,,, but for now,, im just tryin to make what i have work..

thanks again rod..

Hey Alden, If you want some advice on this - Look at my hull in my profile.. I have trucks on both sides and had the same problem. I left the Trucks on and inserted JAE style ski on it and it now runs like a JAE.. Of course, this is a .21 but nevertheless had the same problem on launch.. I assume you still have the Sponsons on your .12 and also the Drive-shaft. I can direct you on how to attch the Ski in-between that also. It took some work, but the results were amazing.

thanks ted,,thats what im hoping..the rear skis i had double sided tape holding them,,so i could adjust them,, i tried everywhere,, couldnt find a spot they would work..got aggrivated and ripped em off...tossed it in the water and it went... couldnt believe my eyes.. although at times it would do the same crap if you didnt have a sling shot to toss it in the water it wasnt happening...

i hope the center ski will solve the issue...find out soon enough...

thanks,,alden

O.k. Alden, with the Ski you really don't need the Side(Rear) Sponsons. Just make sure the Ski-depth is parrallel with the table - like Rod said and you'll be fine. The hull may even run without the Ski - but the Ski is nice because it sets the Prop at the right depth in the water to Free-up. You can also run Bigger props - were you weren't able to before.. I left my Trucks on(For looks Only). They are not needed, but sure aide the whole set-up when it comes to rippen around the bouy's.

thanks for the info ted and rod,,, i will for sure keep this in mind and apply it to the build... the center ski just makes sense to me... rod gave the best advice of all i think,,, basicaly start over new,,as the factors add up like crazy... it was my first rigger build and i feel it went well...although its a pita to run....

by the way rod.... i think what you said is gonna happen sooner than i ever thought....... mark sholund being the stand up guy he is hooked me up with a brand new jae .12 hull.... an extended thanks to mark for everything he does...... along with the rest of you guy's

geez,,, first you hook me up with the boat,,,then you stay up late to package it... i dont know what to say mark...

Alden, Good luck & have fun with your new .12 JAE. :D Hey Mark, could you package another one up for me too?

i will ted,,,but truth is i dont plan on giving up on my rigger.... jae,,,will most def. hit the water before mine does,,,but never the less,,i wont give up on her....
