Anyone here run this little bugger? I just ordered one to play with in front of the house with the kids. Any tips on changing anything? I ordered thr pre built and plan to run 3s. I have motors from 3450kv to 4400. Should be fun.....

Depends how much your going to push the speeds & how sharp you want to turn, i use a metal rudder bracket rather than the stock ply side of the tub. As i snapped the ply in a sharp turn, also i dont use the original screws going into the dowl to hold the turnfin on. This i also twisted the screws out in a turn, i bolt either right through the sponson or put inserts into sponson with no more problems. I run a slightly hotter set up than stock so need the do these mods, i also tore the blades of the stock plastic prop on the first run so use Octura metal props now. If you just want a more stock set up then youll be fine with the stock build, great little boats & a lot of fun to run.

Thank you guys....im going to push it to the limits...ill stiffin the turn fin and rudder mounts for sure. Well see if the booms hold up. I have some battery ideas ive been experimenting with that I think is worth trying on an rc. I built a bushing brushless motor to try also. Its a short life motor but bearings are only good to 50k it seems. We'll see how hot it gets....

Yes i also upgraded the boom tubes to 6mm, the 3/16" hollow tubes wernt strong enough for what i was doing. I also raised the deck height up so as to get more room inside to get 3s 2200mah 60c in along with a bigger watercooled esc.

Ditto what Martin has said, I had to reinforce the rudder mounting tab after too many full speed little circles but it's just too much fun. My boom tubes have held up great though. I can just squeeze in a Nano-tech 2200mah 45-90c with the esc sitting right on top.

I'm looking into building one of these because I have a bunch of 3 cell 2200mah lipos laying around that I use in my trex 450.my lipos have deans plugs on them now. Would they be ok to leave on or will I have to switch out to bullet connectors

Thanks Tony

Your Deans plugs will work just fine in this application. You wont be pulling much more than 50-60 amps in this boat.

What kinda speeds can one expect with both the 2 and 3 cell? Looks like a way to get my brother inlaw into boats:) Plus I wouldn't mind one for the ease of just tossing and going boating!!!

The cowl looks like it requires a ton of tape to seal. How many rolls off tape do you FE fellas go through a season?

Most FE'rs are using a shin guard tape (not cloth stick tape) that is widely used by hockey players. Its water proof and made of some sorte of poly material. It can be had at most large sports stores for $3-$4 bucks a roll.

I found a pic with a 2s pack but the 3s fits the same way just a bit tighter.

It's definitely more fun on 3s but I'm guessing on the speed, in the 30's ish?

Not really that much tape compared to a VS1 or UL-1 the sprint is fairly small. It's pretty narrow on the edges so I use the 3m tape its narrower than the shinpad tape.
