Jim does great work on them!

Ron, is Jim's 21 strut any different than the 12 or are they the same size? I only bought one of them (for the 12) and was just waiting to see if there were any changes on the 21 before I bought another one...

Ok...thanks Ron. :) Maybe Jim will chime in here about it so everyone will know if there have been any changes made to the 21's...

Kent, I have not made any changes as of yet. The strut will fit on either boat it just sits lower on the 21. The only thing is you may have to put a shim or a plate behind the strut with a bigger foot print to keep them from sinking into the wood transom. There was a post about this subject not long ago, although it was not one of my struts he was using I believe it would be a wise idea for any design. I may have to redesign something to address this problem but at the moment I have to many projects going. Also I am going to have to take a break from building hardware soon so I can get my boats ready for the season.

Here is the thread:

Jim, I would not redesign. The builder should just do what is described in the above thread.

Thanks Jim. I think I will take your thought about the plate into consideration...good idea.

Craig...thanks for the thread link...just ordered some Garolite (thanks Don!) for the transoms on both JAE builds.
