For you that run Jae's 45 : what is the OD for the Jae .45 boom and the distance between inner sides of sponsons?

Thanks

Gill

Gil, mine has 3/8" hollow carbon booms (haven't run it yet so can't tell you how it works). When you order from Goodwinds tell them the exact OD you are looking for (ie .375") and ask them if they will measure it before they send it to you. I have bought some from them in the past and it was about .005 oversize and would not fit in the brass tubes.

Glenn

Glenn those 3/8 hollow CF tubes would work fine, however being hollow they will crack/break pretty easy in an impact with say a bouy. (I wonder how I know that!) But on the other side that means the tube will break BEFORE more important and harder to fix parts break. I do find the hollow tubes tend to split at the ends near the bolt that holds the sponsons, so that is a place to watch out for. (Or use some solid material on the ends to make the tubes less prone to splitting.) I guess a 3/8 hollow would hold up pretty well over the 5/16 hollow tubes. As for weight savings of hollow over solid that would not really matter much in a 45 size boat. With the hollow tubes you have to really look over the tubes after any impacts, they crack and look ok on the outside but under load they will come apart.

Paul

If the boat is designed around a hollow tube you could always run a solid rod thru the tube.

Paul and Glenn I ásked Mike for one fin yesterday. As I'm not familiar to this boat size I have the impression (not sure) that the lenght and width of this tub is the same of the Jae .21...correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks
