I used five coats of duplicolor clear engine enamel on my hull, sanding with 150 and 220 blocks between coats.I wanted a light easy finish .That seems to be holding up well so far and would be easy to refinish if needed.Had some head ache with epoxys and thought it was a bit to heavy for me but left it in the compartments anyway.Just my two cents, hope it helps.Think i will sand off back half sides and rear overhangs of sponsons for some weight reduction.

What does your boat weigh? Five coats sounds heavy, but of course how much got sanded off between coats makes a big difference.

Justin I use to aplly two coats of epoxy resin 100% thinned to seal the whole boat....then a dry sand with 220 grit 3M golden sand paper before the painting with PPG poliurethane base. For clear the D800 from PPG is my personal choice for years.Epoxi is the best seal for our wood boats!
