Jae .21 sponson spacing?

Please help, I am trying to get an idea how far to space the front sponsons on a JAE .21 boat?

Im gonna try something like 18 inches inside to inside........................ hope this boat works............ not really a JAE boat

18" would be a good width for a .12 'rigger. If you're using a 4-foot piece of carbon fiber rod or tubing you can make 3 booms out of one length at 17-3/4" figuring the loss from the kerfs. This way you'll have a spare if you ever need it. That would the outside measurement then of the sponsons.

If you're sctratch building, I've got some 3/16" rod that seems to be really strong. We used it on the Hammerhead .12 project.

I got tubing, thank you. now I have asked here for info on spacing for a JAE .21 sponsons. One of the people who was part of the developing of the boat said 18-20 inches. David Preusse who is building the boats said the tubes in the kits are 20 inches, but dont those tubes slide inside the sponsons? If they do wouldnt that make the spacing about 18 inches? Now 18 inches between sponsons seems like alot to me since my firefighter .21 has the sponsons spaced at 13.25 inches

I have no clue where your getting a .12 boat from. Never mentioned .12

I just wanted some finished measurements of some of the jae.21 boats

Paul, Mine is at 20" to the outside and 17.5 to the inside. Mine is built from the kit from Zipp kits. Hope this is what your looking for. BTW this is the .21 JAE

The Booms in the Zip Kits are 20" long . Yes they are loog. I hear good stability .
