What is the best rudder depth you guys have found for the JAE.21 from the tub bottom to bottom of rudder, I am using a speedmaster .21 hydro rudder 3/4" wide. Thanks for the help.

Shawn,

If the Speedmaster rudder is the mini hydro rudder, run it full length, do not cut anything off. I cut my traditional 1" off and it caused pulling to the right. Put the full length one on it and it tracked true. If you are running a standard 21 hydro you are running one too big for the JAE. Put the mini hydro one on it.

You may like the bottom filed to a oval . Some have said that the flat spot on the bottom acts like a ski. lifting the back of the hull during speed tests. Most of my rudders are filed.

or you can file the bottom like a V. that will kill lift also

round is bad in my opinion but that is just me

Hey guys, i'm about 1/2 way thru my JAE 21 build and am going to use a speedmaster SPDR-001 rudder (it was a freebie) i will be running the "z" strut,it looks like it will be mutch closer to the transom than the the JAE rudder, will this work or will i have to make an extended bracket.

Thanks, Brandon.
