Having problems with the stuffing tube getting hot enough to melt the glue at the bulkhead. Flex cable meets collet perfect and using plenty of grease. Any thoughts on how to solve this?

I have had the same problem with my grandsons boat. I wont ever use the s bend again. I grease the shaft every 2 runs and it seems to be ok

Paul,

The s-bend is too much angle if it is getting that hot.

Try a straighter driveline angle and see if that problem goes away?

We run just a slight bend with our wire drive set ups.

Good Luck Testing,

Mark Sholund

Paul,

I don't know if this applies, but make sure that you have enough space between the drive dog and the strut. I 'm sure you already know that the flex shaft gets shorter under load.

Yes. Thanks there is alot of room for this. I've never had this happen on my other riggers but both my sons and mine all have this problem on the jae. These boats were pre-built. There isn't any unusual bends in the tube. The only difference with these is there isn't alot of space from the end of collet to bulkhead.

Here Is a thought.... maybe your flex shaft is to rigid. The reason I say this is I never had a problem with my 40 boat til I changed shaft..... from a andy brown to a huey..... both shafts are awesome don't get me wrong but tge huey shafts widings are heavier and the result was a more rigid flex. ... my boat didn't like that and I wasn't use to it like that and bam.... roasted a drive line.... just my thought.

Oh my edit is maybe if ya have a full "S" bend ya might wanna see if it could be a flex shaft issue

Thanks guys. Also going to try some different grease. I've been using Lucas marine grease. I will try some grim racer or the like. Try that before ripping the tube out

Paul,

The grease will not make a difference.

I would just pull it out and redo it.

You will be surprised how much better it will run.

Good Luck,

Mark Sholund

Paul, Sho Boat, is right. the JAE 21 was my first boat scene I came back into the hobby, and the stuffing tube got so hot it melted my receiver at the corner and smoke up and turned the inside all white, your best bet is like ShoBoat said change the stuffing box. **** luck.

Hi,

has anyone ever tested the Jae with a straight shaft ,but abjustable high of the propeller ?

Happy Amps Christian

Yes I sure did Mark, work on the carb to eliminate in and out movement and also added stops for full open and full close positions. I sure would like to try this new carb and prop set-up this week-end, but looking forward to the new 1515 prop when you get them in. Thanks for all your help !!!!!!!!!!!
