In an effort to keep the weight down I was thinking about running a 1S LiPo and a 5V booster module but most 1S LiPo's are only 400mAh. One possibility would be to run 1S2P using two packs to get the mAh up.

Anyone ever tried this?

No, but I've used 200mah 2s they are not much bigger than a postage stamp 1/2" thick. I did try a couple in parallel because I was nervous about run time.

Now I've switched to a 850mah Hyperion Life.

IMO too much low AMPS.....I've been running in my G3(lite) .12 Nova 5 ports a small pack made with 5 AAA 900mAh. to ensure enough power to the rudder servo.

your better off to run a bigger life pack like the hobbie co 1300 its like 2.3 x1.5 x 1 '' Thats what im going to run should give good run times and power pluss safer than a lipo. You might need to run a volt reg to lower it to 6 volt if your rx and servos cant handle the 6.6 v .
