I posted an engine for sale on another board. Here is the response I got:

Thanks for the reply,

O.K I will buy it for $400,infact i will like to buy this Picco 90 immediately if you will accept a cashiers check, I can instruct my client presently in the USA who is owing me the sum of $4,000.

I may now ask him to procure a cashiers check in your name for this amount and have it posted to you.But i must count on you to send my balance of the money back to me via a western union money transfer. I will then instruct my shipping agent to come over to your location in order to pick up the Picco 90 up for shipment. If this is OK please e-mail me now with your full name/address and Tel # so i may pass it on to my shipping agent and my client.

Please before we start this transaction i will like to tell you that i need your 100% Honest on this transaction because this is the only of collecting

this money from him.Kindly reply me as soon as possible.

Best Regads,

Austine...

I suppose that he also has $4.5 Million that he would like for you to safekeep in your Bank account! :D Sounds just a little sleazy to me Rod. Maybe have the Feds sitting at your house waiting for the clown, they might find it interesting.

Yea, that would be like buying your Picco from him for $3,600.

Kinda hits the point home that we are not among just friends on the boat boards, there are also some wise guys lurking and waiting to pounce. That's why I don't post other people's information when someone asks how to get in touch with them. I'll send it in an e-mail.

On one of the other boards a guy posted a boat to sell, and the whole thing looked a lot like a confidence scam. He was new - it was his very first post. He wasn't describing it like someone who would actually own an RC boat. He had to sell it right away due to a death in the family. He needed secure payment (cashiers check, money order, etc.). And he got very irritable and offensive when folks looked for some assurance that he and the boat actually existed. And he called me an (expletive deleted) when I suggested the others steer clear.

On the other hand, REAL RC boaters are the nicest and most honest people in the whole wide world and would rather be flat broke than short another boater.

That is Known as the Nigerian Scam. Poor english etc. Dont be surprised if you get several others. My older son almost fell for this selling a Parker Nite-Fly guitar (Beautiful instrument). They offer you more money than you ask, then they need it NOW and to ship it asap, then there are several variations of getting your goods by using either stolen or forged MO or fake or stolen credit cards. Tell Osama and his homies thanks but no thanks.. Tony J

guy in our town got one of those when he tried to sell a bike but they never offered more money than what it was going for. he was smart enough to tell them they would have to personally collect the money from him when they came to pick up the bike... funny thing, nobody ever showed up for it

This scam has been going on for several years.

Can you imagine how may mental midgets that must bite into this.

There must be a ton of them out there for this scam to be continuing.

I have in my possesion one of those counerfit checks. One those Nigerian no speaka da english scammers. Wanted to by a boat from my dealership for twice as much as I was asking. Said it was for a client of his. Took the check to my bank and ran the routing numbers and WHAMO it was a foney.

Had 2 others after that one.

THese and others can be found here.....

This guy must have put me on the mass list of scam e-mails.

Now I have widows, politcal prisoners, diamond mind owners, etc....offering me all kinds of money....LOL...so funny to think people take the bail on this crap!

Rod, with AOL you'll get a ton of those, I must get at least one a week. You probably get a lot of those Insta-Kiss e-mails too, another way that people try to get your AOL password so that they can hack your site. I give them a 7 letter password that ends in "you". :p

Do Not Do It

They will send you a fake check and ask you to cash funds to send WUnion. and you willbe out $4700. By time you find out the check is bad, He will back out of the deal and asking you to return the $200 and Keep a$100 for the inconviunce.

LARGE SCAM>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Man,

Their cleaver. I'm gonna start selling these junk e-mails and their senders names on e-bay. Maybe there's some poor sucker waiting for an opportunity of a lifetime like this! LOL
