So I was at the town fireworks show and just before it starts I see red and green lights. I thought I don't remember that tower over there. My daughter said they are moving maybe it is a blimp. I then realized it was a quadcopter with led lights. This quad copter was up for a good part of the show, over half of it. At first I found it just distracting going up and down back and forth while the fireworks were going off. Then the pilot decided to go through the fireworks! several times! It just missed being struck several times. At that point I said that it was dangerous! Honestly it ruined the show for me. It was no longer about a fireworks show it was about someone giving rc hobbies a bad reputation. i'm sure the video is awesome but not worth the risk if you ask me.

The video is pretty cool but I never condone rc operation anywhere that could result in injuries. Sadly there are many videos from people doing exactly as they should not be.

Yes, it's getting far too prevalent. The folks flying these multirotors in unsafe situations need to be publicly shamed and cited by the authorities. They're killing the public (and government) perception of our hobby. The FAA is already breathing down our backs with their latest ruling.

But, those doing it aren't modelers. They're just curious people with money to afford the newest technological toy. Frankly, the multirotors are pretty interesting. But, it requires zero skill to operate one. With a bar that low for entry into flying an R/C aircraft, we're bound to attract the occasional ignorant ******* or lawbreaker.

Beginning of the end if you ask me- not to sound doomsday, but A LOT of light will be cast on this one. The sad part is , the people and the powers that be- do not have the time or resources to separate planes/cars/boats/quads-FPV ect. One it happens , they will cast a VERY large net around ALL of it- period, because its cheaper and easier that way- they have proven this time and time again, and we will all suffer. Think entries are down now- lmao.

Its a hard line to draw- but SOME sort of regulations regarding quad copters needs to happen- but as previously pointed out- they are so easy to fly and as long as you can afford one and A go pro - its only gonna get worse.

He disabled comments..... guess he realized he was not going to win the argument.

Being a flyer of sorts myself, its the same old thing..because of IDIOTS who show no respect or consideration for others, it ruins the experience for those who conduct themselves in a safe, considerate manner....its just a matter of time before someone gets hurt, or WORSE because of these MORONS, and that'll be it.....can you imagine one of these things slamming into a full size plane or heli?? Oh yeah, and Quads are WAY COOL...i have a couple of cheap, small ones, but im am VERY mindful and CAUTIOUS of where i fly em!

I believe they have a place to fly as long as they are responsable doing so. Sounds like this guy is a danger to everyone around him. We were at the Internat's this year and they had a Quad flying around the site taking pictures. Now keep in mind it was daytime and this was a business flying a $25000.00 Quad. It took 2 people and both had moniters to either fly it or to move the camera. It had 8 motors and flew with a gps. It was really neat to watch. At no time did he act in a bad manner where people thought it was harmfull. Bill Zuber should have video of it flying. Hope he reads this and posts the pictures he took.

There was another idiot flying a Quad in Miami almost hit a Heli and blamed the Heli for being there whats next with these idots there going to make it bad for everyone

There's presently two or three threads about this in another forum and it's starting to get a little heated. Some don't see where there's an issue and, even when one is thrown in their face, it's like telling them the sky is falling. One person has even stated that he will shoot down any FPV he sees around his house. Sounds like this is an issue to me if someone is willing to shoot down a FPV with a shotgun loaded with "gooseshot"

Ya know, I've just come to accept that we live amongst absolute f*ing morons. Some dip-sucker wants to fly his automated toy (how is it even fun when the damned computer is doing the "flying"!?) over/across/into another's property.....and then the other guy wants to blow it out of the sky.

There is no sense on either end of that argument. I've just given up on reading those threads in the Heli forums that I frequent. There's just no use.

Y'all be safe (and sane) out there.
