Just wondering what the thoughts were from the guys that run F/E SAWS in IMPBA. There seems to be a resurgence of Outboard Tunnels in SAWS racing lately, I was wonder what the general thoughts are as to dividing the Outboard Tunnels from the Inboard Cats that are now still allowed to run in this class?? It just seems an unfair advantage to the inboard cat guys of the same cell counts. Is there any real reason this would have to go to the one year proposal ?? nothing is being added that doesnt exist already , just splitting the 2 classes of boats as it should be....

Have at it  But lets keep it nice for a change-LOL. ;)

Thanks Ray, but why do 2 classes that already exist and are merely being split have to go for a year trial ???

Anyone ???
Drew, did you get my other response? They were never 2 classes, just two different kinds of power plants that could run in the same class.

Glenn
No I didn't Glenn. Do you mean 2 types of hulls that could run the same class ??
Drew, the rule book describes both a cat and tunnel as being almost the same kind of hull (cat has more freeboard), so in practical terms the biggest difference is the power plant. There is no description (in the FE section) of an OPC type of tunnel that most of us think about. So even if we have a separate outboard class a person could take a "cat" type hull with an outboard on it and run against the "tunnels".

If you want "outboard tunnels" to mean something like "OPC tunnels" you need to get that clarified in the new rules before the vote.

This is a very good discussion and points out some of the details you guys (the FE boaters of the world) need to work over with Randall during the trial period. It will be up to you guys to get the rules you want to live with...be active in the process, talk with Randall (he makes all the FE rules) and VOTE!!!!

Thanks Glenn, I wouldn't have a problem IF the cat had the motor hanging off the back- LOL. ;)

There really needs to be some clear cut distinction between the 2 type boats IMHO . Its truely not a level playing field as it stands.
