June 26-27 in Mazomanie, just outside Madison, WI.

This is our pond site, taken last weekend at The Sardine Regatta, a scale rc boating event. My brother Jim flew sorties gratis all weekend off the pond. Must have been about 50 people that got to experience seat-of-the-pants aviation for the first time.

Thursday evening, the club and any early arrivees will be taking Contest Director Andy Kunz down to Pewaukee. We'll sit on my brothers pier, sip cold drinks, take turns going for flights in the aircraft and do a final review on what needs to be done to host a first class weekend for all participants.

Our pond is pristine, no weeds and 5 ft deep at most. No lost boats, no divers needed. Permanent course and drivers stand, free shelter, electricity and pit tables for all.

And FAST. The entire west side protected by a bluff and no concrete walls to generate chop. The first time Grimracer walked up to the shoreline, he looked it over and simply said: "This is a Nats site."

We plan on redefining "fun".

Charlie and Jeff two of club members went to race in MI and demonstrated that we know how to build fast boats here in Mazo and there are many other racers coming that are just as good.

I just heard from Klaus Mueller, a running partner of Matthias Boese (SAW record holder in O Hydro). Klaus visits us periodically. He's running O Hydro, and is fresh off a German SAW event where he registered and confirmed a two-way pass of 75 mph, besting Matthias US SAW record by about 5 mph.

Conclusion: We might be the new kids on the block, but there will be no shortage of stiff competition.

We have generous sponsorship support from Fuller's Fast Electrics, Fine Design, Octura Models, Battlepacks.com, Offshorelectrics, Climate Boatworks, and Hughey Boats...so far. Raffling gifts are streaming in. We'll have a "hospitality" tent with fully stocked buffet up most of the day.

Come on in, bring the kids. We are 30 minutes from WI Dells, the waterpark capital of the world. 10 minutes from Taliesin, home of Frank Lloyd Wright, 25 minutes from the International Crane Foundation, 2 hours from Chicago (but who would want to go there?). The is also a large artfair in a local community all weekend, 10 minutes away.

Something for everyone.

We'll miss you Grim. Hope you have a great race in IL.

Despite a little class controversy, everyone is getting excited and we're up to 23 racers and well over 100 boats in 12 classes.

We're going to leave registration open until about the 22nd at which time heats will be mixed.

The Sardine Classic website.

FE racers.. Without question this is and will be the premier race of the summer for FE.. The pond is unreal and the hosts... well you need to show up to get that type of Wisconsin hospitality.

Hope to see you on Sat as we make our way to IL.

I would think that as CD.. he is not going to have time to be wrenching a boat.. However after going to the race last year.. the FE guys will run as much as possible and as many boats as they can.. all while listening to the big game on the radio. NUTS…. :D :D

Andy Valentine is not the CD for the Sardine race.

Andy Valentine actually races. The guy you are thinking is Andy Kunz.

I see the familiar names, like Fullers, Fine Design, Octura, Hills, Offshore Electrics, Hughey and Climate are stepping up to the plate and sponsoring this race.

Remember these guys when you go to purchase some new stuff.
