Finally I got on the ball and finished this thing. It turned out pretty good except KP pointed out where water got under the paint. I think that's the first time in 10 years. Oh well, I'll fix it. Ok, that is somewhat of an estimate of how well I sealed the boat; minimal epoxy. There was 1.4 oz added to the weight of the boat by the paint. Overall the RTR dry weight is 3lb 15.6oz. Ok, somebody say it's heavy.
I did make some minor corrections that I felt necessary to the boat. Who knows if they were necessary? I had discussed these with Jon and all questions pertaining to these should go to him. I just want to be honest and not be perceived as bad-mouthing Jon. On a side note, I don't want to get into any Blackjack/Warlock stuff either.
Getting to the point, we went to the lake and threw the boat in with the Stalker Pro radar gun in hand. It was hot, the humidity was very high, therefore the air density sucked but the water was glass. First pass - 70mph! We tried about 4 or 5 ABC props with a top speed of 75mph! It seemed to get up on the pipe very well. The boat turns great! Turn exist speeds of 67mph! We were only there for an hour, a tank of fuel, and everything went great. Some
remote possibilities were seen in the handling but I won't know anything till I get in race conditions. I still want to play with the engine placement for the purpose of weight distribution. Currently the tail weight Jon wants isn't there. I'll move the engine back a little at a time and see what happens. Even with the engine all the way back I had to add 4 AA cells to the tail to get the 22% tail weight. I can always do this at a later time if needed.
Now to go win some races. If nothing else I finally went 75 with a 21. (Major wood)
So, is 80 possible? Kentley can tell you later. I want the trophy, he wants the record.
Nice boat!
P.S. I'll get to the cowl later.
