This will be a great race. Mark's write-up about the some of the history of boat racing in Dist 5 is great. We had great races at the Pawnee Lake in Birmingham. A large group would come up from New Orleans and a large crowd from Indy. The first "BENT" turn fin I believe showed up at our race. In fact I went up to Bud Baird and told him he had hit something and had a bent turnfin. His reply was that it was okay.

The Huntsville site is truly one of the best in the country. A great driver stand, a grassy area to set up on and black top parking lot. Air conditioned and CLEAN toilets. The site is centered in the middle of the country east of the Miss. river. The hotels are reasonable and close to the pond.

We might, with a little luck, get Joe Warren to grill some hot dogs Fri night after open water!!!!!!!!! I hear that efforts are going to be made to get merchandise that would given away by a drawing. This would be a free drawing and the club would not be selling tickets to make money!!!!!!!!! I am sure Mark Bullard would be interested in manufacturers donations for the race.

SOOOOOOOOOO get your entries in early. Dr.T

We have three boats to give away at the race so far and looking for more. Let me explain how we are going to do it. The classes you run like, sport hydro/scale, tunnel, hydro, or mono. I am trying to get boats to give away. We will take the entries names and put them in a hat to draw from. No, I mean no raffle tickets!!! If you run tunnels your name will go into a hat and who's name comes out will win the tunnel. The same will go for the other classes. This will be a very different type of give away and I feel it will show a lot of respect to the manufacture. Of course other boating products will be given away also with no raffle ticket. So if you would like to send something to give away and have your product name supported feel free to contact me.

Thanks

Hey MarK,

I'll be there with another old timer with a 4 digit number. That is two more old guys. We are really excited about the rebirth of this race. Will there be be cool Confederate patches to compliment the originals on my vest?? Let me know if you need help, willing to do whatever. Your giveaway also looks real good.

Thats great Mark. Good to hear from you. Don't know about patches this year. I have look and look for graphics of the Confederate flag but it seem that everyone want to change history and do away with the old history. Which college in Mississippi had the general holdong the Confederate flag? I look at there site and they don't show it anymore but they do still call it theirs. A high school in Huntsville had about the same logo and was forced to stop using it this year after they had been using it for over 40 years because Mississippi college said the rights belong to them and was their trade mark.

And we will take all the help we can take. Thanks

Dick here is what Mark has on the flyer about the classes. Just need to make sure classes you are interested in get at least 5 entries.

WE WILL OFFER ALL IMPBA CLASSES FROM A TO GAS PLUS ELECTRIC. 5 BOATS TO MAKE A CLASS. WE WILL NOT TURN ANYONE AWAY BUT WE MAY COMBINE CLASSES IF NEEDED. SPECIAL CLASSES WILL BE - KIDS CLASS - RTR

Mark B I called Mike Stevens and let him know about the race and the twin class so you'll have one more twin racer.

I need his e-mail address also. Mr. Bullard Iam wondering what tunnel classes will be run.Could you pls list all classes to be run ? Thanks alot ,Dick Loeb

Mark, What boats would qualify for the kids class. My 7 year old runs a B mono. chris
Hi Chris,

That is what most Kids run for the class in the past. But I would not be afraid to put RTR's, like Miss Vega's or those RTR monos with the 18's in them. No B riggers.
