Has anyone here tried to split a F/G hull down the centerline to widen it? If so I would like to know how to do it w/o destroying the hull. This w/b a hydro hull, not a rigger.

It dends on what type of hull. Rigger, cat or mono? Rigger would just be as quick to make new tub, cat on center and mono on center but you have to be ambitious. Good luck on your endevor.

I know some have cut wood hulls down the center, one that comes to mind is the late Troy McIntyre. He split a Dumas sport 40 Atlas right down the middle, added an inch in width into the transom and bow block and then replaced the bottom. Ran like a dream after that where before it wouldn't corner due to it's lack of tunnel width

I have a Aeromarine sport 40 and it's too narrow and doesn't turn well at speed. I'm wondering if wideing it would help. Of course its glass. This boat is 37" L x 16" wide with a 7"tunnel between sponsons.

Hey Ken just run it thru your saw a couple time and then save up and buy one of my Supersports.

:).

Just messing with you, you should be able to cut it on center and glass in a pice of 1/16 ply to make it wider, be worth a try to see how it handles.

That's pretty much what I was thinking, Shouldn't be too hard, just hate messing up a new hull. Someday I may be able to get one of yours. But I'm getting older and things are harder to do now days.
