Will a HS-225MG be enough for the rudder on a .21 rigger? It is a metal geared ball bearing mini servo with 66.7 oz-in of torque at 6.0 volts.

Thanks.

It sure is. That is all I run in my two 20 riggers now and will be in the JAE I am going to start building soon. Plenty strong enough and so is the Futaba equivalent.

Thanks, what part# is the Futaba equivelant?
Maybe this will help.....here is the specs for the Hi-tec 225.

Just compare this with the Futaba servo specs from Tower...

i will warn you of these , they like most servo's dont like vibration.. i use this same servo in my 20 hydro and others like my whiplash for steering and i used them in my eagle 67 for throttle and third channel, kept knocking out the throttle ..like 4 servos in a gallon of fuel, no rubbing anywhere, and bind free linkage..not sur what the deal was , maybe a bad run , but tower will not replace anymore , you have to go through hitec..kinda pain in the bum.

The Futaba equivalent of this servo is the 3002. It does cost more than the Hitec, but I think it holds up better.

Thanks,

Steve Ball

The LHS was out of the HS-225MG, so I paid a bunch more for an in-stock S3002. I bought two HS-82MG for the throttle and 3rd channel needle.

I did notice that Futaba is discontinuing the S3002 and replacing it with the S3016.

Some online specs have the S3002 torque output at 64 oz.-in at 6 v., but others have it at around 47 oz.-in. at 6 v. Hopefully the real torque output is the higher one...

Trust me, I've been using this Futaba servo on 4.8 volts for years in my 20 riggers. You won't have a problem, and it will last for years.

Thanks, good to know.

I can't tell you how many I have gone through for throttle and third channels. They don't last at all. I can't see anyone running them for something as important as steering.

Crazy stuff..... Hitec is all I've used in my 1/8 buggies and truggies for years, that being said I race on average of 8 cases of fuel in each car, every year all over the country and havent had a single failure in at least 5 years that I can remember. I also ran Hitec in my tunnels for years without any issues. I cant imagine 5 mins, at a time, a boat is harder on a servo than 1hr mains in a truggy/buggy with 7.4 volts from lipo. Vibration is probably about the same if not worse in a car. I like Futaba also, just for my radio, not servos. I Iove my 3pk, I Cant tell you how many BLS's I've seen burn up...... at $140 a pop and a DNF 1000 miles from home......... no thanks
