How much is the look of our website worth?

I don't have the time (or skill) to really get a cool new look to our website. For a long time now I have wanted to go back to our glory days of the purple blue with water background colors. But I just can't do it myself. I have researched getting a custom/professional skin and it looks like it will be $150 bucks. Is this too much to ask for donations just to change the look of our website?? Should we just stick to the blue/white scheme?
