Make a bow out of a non-conducting material. String a nichrome wire across it. get an old DC train transformer for power. Play with the temp and feed rates till you get it right. It is not all that hard. I may have an extra bow for my system,I will check.

hey krpnova,

where do you get the wire from? What type of foam can you cut and glass?

thanx for any help you can give.

You can go to most any hobby shop and get it. I know that Sig has some in a small package that is just right for us.

I use a large dowel and drill a 1/4" hole at a slant to put a steel rod through. I then run the wire from the end of one rod to the other and when it gets loose I can slide down the rods to tighten. I run a wire from each nd to the transformer and adjust according. Pictured is the end of one I cut foam wings with. Hope this helps.

Jerome, that would be great. I will shoot you an email.

Bob, thanks for the picture. Great job on the Whiplash Sport40! Very impressive skills.

I use a very similar bow, but I put two 1/4 inch wheel collars on the end of the rods to locate the wire looks like you grind a slot.

Brian stainless fishing leader works great for the cutting wire, I find that it lasts longer than nichrome.

If you search for hot wire cutters there are a couple of sites that show how to make simple power supplies.

Charles river rc club has cutter plans ands some good how to on cutting and composite wing constrution you may find interesting.

Brian,

I purchased a hot wire cutter from flee bay year ago. They also provided a process to create a hot wire table. Information was posted here: Hot Wire Table

Have fun!!!!

Mark.
