im goin to put a hopper tank into my areomarine 21 preditor i had a few questions. im goin to get a 1 oz slant tank and a 6 oz slant tank. is that good? also does the hopper tank need to be the same level as the carb? or close? and for the hopper tank where do i bend the brass tube too? i know on the main tank one to the top for the presure and one to the front bottom left.also should i mount the hooper on top of the main tank?

Id say to mount the fuel tank above the carb, gravity is a major act in pumping the gas to the carb. Like syphening stuff, whatever is higher will automaticly draw it down.

Phil   :)

I ran a 21 preditor for may years in D4, never used a hopper tank, I had an 8oz tank mounted inside the cowl, as high and tight as you can get it, and as far back without sticking out. Used some fiberglass and resin to hold it all together. Had to heat the tank a little to form it to the cowl, but it fit real nice then.

thats how the tank is now its a 6 oz oval and its got a klunk system in it for what u use in airplanes. but i knowticed it died a few times in the lake and the full wasent empty and i get a hard time gettin the fuel to the carb. i was told to do the hopper tank so im give it a shot.

I ran that boat with a 8oz tank and the 1oz hopper mounted right on top of the 8oz tank, worked well. If you have the tank tray in your boat just remove it and mount the tank in the bottom of the boat. You want the hopper just below your carb but it is very hard in that boat. Happy Boating Bill

As to the plumbing of the tanks, they are both the same. Pickup is back left bottom and vent is at the top somewhere. If you use the slant, then the bubble is perfect for the vent. If not , right front top. Hopper pick up goes to carb. Hopper vent goes to pick up in main tank. Main tank vent goes to pipe or lower unit pressure nipple. Hopper should not be above carb as it will siphon and flood the motor.

You don't want the tank too high or else it will flood the carb constantly.

This is exactly what happened to me with my Dumas DV20. Once I moved the tank to just below carb level, all was well :D .

the origianl tank is a 6oz so i got the 6oz slant should be ok but thats what i wanted to hear i took out the tray n mount str8 to the bottom i could put a lil light weight block under the tanks to lift them up a lil bit..also theres hole drilled where the fuel line comes out the back can i leave it like that?

The fuel line might be OK. My fuel line was on top of the trasom and I cut the cowling to clear the fuel line, my pressure line was drilled through the transon.

any tips for bending the brass ? i just finished the 1 oz tank and im havin a hell of a time tryin to get the tube to bend in the far corner so i just said F*** it and put it as good as i can to the corner sence its the hopper tank its hardly ever goin to get empty

I have a small drill bit with the back edge rounded off, I put that in the tube to help bend it. It is best to have the tube in the stopped away for the corner your pickup will be in. Run the tube back into the tank and then up to the corner might help, it is a pain either way.
