I am looking for opioions on what is the best substance to fill up some holes thru the transom where the turn fin was bolted to , the new holes are going to be right thru 1/2 the old holes if you catch my drift , wooden dowel pins hammered in is my best guess

Dowels are good, just glue them in though, no hammering required! Also make sure you seal the end grain or they won't even last one season. B)

If you have to redrill drill through the holes wooden dowls would be best. Just make sure you glue them in with quality glue and seal them so there water proof. You don't want them to rot

Or If your really careful and take your time I once used 2 hour epoxy and redrilled half the holes and used blind nuts. Worked like a champ.

For plain holes in the transom simply mask of the back sde of the transom w/tape and from the inside pour anythng from 30 minute to 1 to 2 hour epoxy. Comes out Flat as a board, no sanding required.
