Finland made us look like fools last night . As a former old school goaltender who learned from a few of the good ones I have made an observation about the "new " goaltending styles that I just don't get . Watch todays goalies whom are undoubtedly fantastic athletes but some of them will give up the most rudimentary and vital form of defense when you go down to a pad split type stance . While the pads are down and wide covering almost the whole net the stick is off the ice leaving the deadly 5 hole gap wide open . You see this all the time and some of the easiest shots to stop turn out to be goals . I saw it last night again . Teemu Selanne and crew made mincemeat out of team USA .

Went to hockey camp in Canada for a few summers . Euros have taken the game under their collective wing quite well over the years . I'm old school and believe the Olympics should still be Amateur only .
