I asked this question before but didn't really get an answer.

When our little group of racing fools (15 of us) arrive from Australia to race at Legg Lake, we need to find a local hobby shop on the way to, or near, the Doubletree Hotel. We want to get general hobby stuff like Power Panels, Starters, Fuel Pumps and the like.

Can I get anyone that may know the area to give us some feed-back. A name, address and map would be great. Remember, we don't have a clue where we are over there. Makes driving around a hoot. We generally get lost three times looking for things. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

How about this, the best reply will receive an Ozzy T-Shirt and Cap. You will have to pick them up at the pond though.

If anyone was to offer to 'guide' us from LAX or the hotel to the hobby shop, that would even be better. We don't even know, yet, how to get to the hotel.

Many thanks in anticipation of the flood of replys.

Hi Bill. I live nearly 3000 miles from LA, but here is a good tool online for travelling and getting directions in the U.S. It's called mapquest.com

Below is a map I pulled up for you of LA Airport. You can type "HOBBY", or anything for that matter, in the "business search" and it will give you all the local shops as well as a map, detailed driving directions, and distances. You might find it useful. It came up with 134 hobby shops within 25 miles of LAX-

Most hobby shops around here (Knoxville, TN) stock limited amounts of the support equipment that you need. Your best bet is to contact somebody here and provide a list of the equipment that you guys need. Several members in this board offered their help already.

The Nats web site has directions from the hotel to the lake.

Here is the link.

Go to lodging and click on lake directions.

I would think that Pegasus Hobbies in Montclair would be your best bet for hobby supplies.

Here is their link......

They are about 30 minutes away.

You might also try Terry Prather at Prather Products and see if you guys can take a tour through his place. I think that its a pretty neat thing to do. Here is the link.

I will be with my two grandsons (ages 2 and 5) the first part of the week as they will be racing in Kids R Boaters Too. I will then go back to San Diego to pick up Ira Cotton and bring him to the Nats on Wednesday.

The blender from Sacramento 1992 is still in action. I hope that we can have a chilly one for old times sake.

It was just the other day that I was watching video I took of your rigger doing a 360 barrel row and still came out running. Do you remember? Its been 12 years.

See ya.............

Thanks for all the info guys.

Al, thanks for the directions. I certainly do remember the blender and our 'tailgate' carpark party - or parts of it. Bring on the 'Beer-rita's' ;) Please bring the video with you, I don't think I have seen it.

We are so looking forward to seeing old friends again and making some new ones. So glad to hear Ira will be there, has anyone heard from 'Buz'?

Only 13 more sleeps before we leave. :p

See y'all real soon.

Bill Annabel.

Bill,

have a safe trip. It should be a fun week.

No one has seen Buzz in years. We figure that he up and left to be with his folks in the Las Vegas area.
