Don, Look at this fan and let me know if you think it would be a good painting exhaust fan for my shop.

mcmaster carr part number: 2089K6

thanks

Tom-

Two things about that fan- first it appears you will need to mount higher than level that you will be spraying. Ideally you want to draw down & away so any airborne shop dust isn't drawn to what you just painted. Second, the cfm rating is borderline, even at 665 cfm I wish mine was a touch stronger still & it sits directly under what I'm painting.

Ok.... i'm glad I asked....

how about this one 19455K21 ? I'd have to make a cover for it in the winter though. In theory, that one would exhaust my entire shop in 1 minute. 9X22X8 = 1584 top rated CFM is on this one is 1550.

would you just mount it on the bottom of the wall?

thanks

tom

That one seems to have a bit more power. Don't go too low to the floor, I'd say about 2 1/2 to 3 feet up perhaps? You'll also need to add a fine wire mesh to keep the critters out & a filter frame in front of it to hold a typical home a/c filter to catch the paint particles. :)
