Guy,s I'm new to the sport and have purchased this boat from a friend. I finally got it tocomplete laps but it just doesn,t seem to peek out on the pipe and come up on the prop. We'ev tired to adjust the strut and work with the fuel/air mixture but just cant seem to get that last little bit it needs to break loose. I actually had to go to a pretty small prop from what i understand, x442 and that is the only way i can keep it moving. 'm used to racing cars and gave that up for this.

Don't know what to do, thanks,

need more information. roadrunners are very decent boats and if you bought it set up already and the person you bought it from did a good job then i would look at the motor. k&B 21 you said right? what is the head clearance did you check the bearings(are they good) what plug are you using, how much nitro, does the piston have any vertical marks on it, is the piston pitted on the top, what pipe are you using, what is the pipe lenght, then when you have the motor squared away you start looking at props

We do need more info. thats for sure, its a 45 in a 21 boat, How long is the pipe from the glow plug to the widest part of the pipe, or the weld? What fuel? If this is like many roadrunners the sponsons are adjustable. if they are too flat in the front, you could have that problem. Does it have pressure running to it? I will aske more as I think of it. Thmotor is a kb 45. The friend i bought it from said that he had replaced the bearings in it. The pipe make im not sure of but it has been cut down to 8.5' from the center of the motor. I am running mc9 glow plugs in it thats, what he recommended. He has been helping me work with the boat. When the pipe was at 8.75 it seemed like the boat would come up real hard in the turns and would get really fast and hold the speed sometimes thenwe cut the pipe down some more. thanks for the response.

ken i am running 50% nitro with an 18% oil cntent the pipe measures 8.5 in from the plug to the weld. Also the boat seems to die when full throttle is applied. I can run the boat at 80-85% throttle for laps but as soon as i throttle it up the rest of the way it will start to break up a little and usually dies as far away as possible. LOL. It usually dies in th turns. how exactlly do i adjust the spnsons? thnx zach

Your pipe is too short.......You will need to be at least 9.5", maybe even 10" from plug to fat part of pipe.

Your running lean, because with a short pipe, you require more fuel.

Here is something to remember; Short and Fat.......Long and lean.

Short pipe......fat on the fuel(richer)

Long pipe.......lean on the fuel.

I'm sure you will get the help required.....this is a great forum. :)
