I'm building my first rigger and seem to have a problem. After building the tub, the aft tub bottom is about .100 wider than the outside of the tub. If I set the width of the tub jig to the tub bottom it's too wide to clamp the tub sides to. Am I supposed to trim the tub bottom to match the tub? Or did I build the tub wrong? Maybe they sent the wrong bottom in the kit?

Thanks for the help

Hi Marc, The bottom skin should always hangover the tub frame to fit, after glue dries use hand planner to trim off the wood overhang close to the tub & then sand with a hand sander/block to finish. Use acetone to clean excessive wet glue off wood to keep sanding easy & will make your build look nice & the glue off your hands.

I took my 2x2 aluminum angle and milled the bottom edge. Then I could get the aluminum angle up against the tub. You could use a file and file the 90 degree edge till you can get the aluminum angle to fit tight against the tub also. Have fun with your build. Jae's are great riggers.

How do I use the tub jig that is shown in the instructions, then? If I set it to the width of the aft tub bottom it is too wide to clamp the sides to.
