Guys,

While hunting for another third channel radio I was looking at my PCM 2 channel versus the three channel. They are just about identical so it dawned on me since it already has a tuned third channel receiver is there anyone on this board who would know how and be willing to make it a converted third channel knob?? I have a spare knob off an old radio that could some how be drilled and screwed into place, it's the sawdering that seems tough.

I remember seeing some guys doing "SURGERY" on their JR radios and wondered if this can be done??

Or, are there any places (shops) that do this??

I don't want to pay more than what it would cost to buy a new radio so if it's affordable I'll do it.

Let me know: [email protected]

If the TX has a multiple channel chip it can be done. A lot of 2 channels use a 7 channel chip.

If you can't solder then I'd suggest you leave this job for someone with electronics experience, as there are a few pitfalls.....

If you are inside of it, I wouldnt "touch" anything, bad stuff can happen.............. 8)

It can be done. Over the years RC Modeler magazine has run various articles on doing so. You could hook up with the forum links from their website and ask around. I've used several of their schematics for failsafes and glodrivers and such.

While innovation and imagination are the heart of all advancement, make sure you're willing to chance the cost of failure. Success is awesome, failure dents the wallet.

RCBoats2,

I hope you are joking. Soldering electronics with a blowtorch is bad...very bad. A sure way to let the magic smoke out of the componenets :-

In reality, electronics are finicky. You need a small tip iron and heat sink at a minimum.

I'm thinkin'.................PLASMA CUTTER!! ;D
