It's a David Pruese cowl.I have about 1/4" around header front & back,3/6" around back of motor head. Do I need more. Will holes at rear of cowl make a vacuum @ carb ? Pics soon...

I would like to see what you have done, I have a air cooled morot and I just got my second cowl from David on order. I plan to have a cut out for the head and being Im using a side exhaust motor I have to cut a hole in the side of the cowl also...

I'll try to get them up soon but tomorrow is my daughters birthday. His cowls are great I just scored in the 90 of excess material made some relief cuts to snap off fit perfect no trimming at all. I glued a 1/6 ply at rear like the front plastic tab as hold down. Push it a little extra forward and it snaps in. Next time I might try to use what was there as excess and a little heat to shape it like the front. I ran the pressure tube in with the exhaust cut out" yours might be easier to route.

Understand completely Birthdays first!

Well I'm waiting to get mine this will be my second one from him and it should fit like a glove.

Folks,

I have been trying unsuccessfully to reach David to order a JAE 12 cowl, what is the best way to get in contact with him?

My emails and PM's haven't worked, unless he's been on vacation or such over the past 10 days...

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Jay

I just emailed him friday and got an answer. Try [email protected] I think .... You should be able to contact him there. Maybe busy but shoot him another email there and he will answer.

Dang I shrunk those pics to 1mb I cant remember what I did last time. Knats a%$ view

Boat looks awesome, one thing I would consider is a metal servo arm on your rudder ........ the plastic one wont last long, it will wear pretty fast :)

Here is a sketch of the cowl I did for the side exhaust using Daves cowl.I have a few things to finish on this boat just have to have the weather to paint and I will take photos.

dont drill any holes at the back of the cowl. that can creat negtive vac at the carb. Joe did that with the cowl he made for my JAE.12. It ran like crap, dogish no power. So joe added a backplate at that did the trick. By leaving the backend closed up helps trap in the air to help the carb breath.

Thanks Miss Hydro

I think I will take your advice and keep the cowl closed in the back. I have already cut out what you see in the sketch except the two slots and the rear....will post photos later.

Joe had the cowl backend wide open, that what we notice that it wasnt running wright. take the cowl off and she was running great. So joe put a backplate on the back of the cowl and proublem solved. but theres alittle openning just under the cowl.. try you hole idea and see what it would do. if it doesnt then put tap over them and retry it. Its a trial and error thing with these jae's.there was a thread about how far the cowl should be away from the carb about 1/2+
