Hacker Motor

I Have a Hacker B50 XL motor. I have smoked 2 ESC's with this motor and I am wondering if the kv is to high for my application. I have a BBY hydro that I was running it in a year ago. The first time I smoked the Hacker Esc. the second time I smoked an ETTI Esc. I got the Etti replaced and added the Capacitors to it. Before I use this set-up again I would like to find out what this Hacker motor really is. There is no markings on the motor but it did come from BBY Racing as a package deal with the boat. I have ran this motor on 3 lipo cells and it runs ok. On 4 cells it was Ballistic for about 2 lapps and then POOF went the ESC. I don't think I had to much prop. Maybe a 1440, I don't think that would hurt the ESC. Had water cooling going to the ESC and then to the motor.

Our club is thinking about having an electric race next year and I would like to build a boat to run. Maybe a rigger or a tunnel.

Can one of you electric guys help me out. Do you no how to figure out what the kv really is?

Did you call Randy at BBY? That may be the easiest way.

There are ways to find the Kv of an unknown motor...I don't know how to do it, but someone will chime in I'm sure.

There are Kv checkers, I have one. That would let you know the wind, but you have to own one to do it. This is the one I own, it works well.

I'd see if someone in your area has one, or find someone with one you can send the motor to.

For $30.00 I just went ahead and bought one. What a great tool to have if your going to play with electric boats.
