I was informed today that orders are being pushed out on all GP3700 cells. Since we were getting them from Trinity, who knows what the future is for these cells. I would guess that Trinity is using them all internally and cutting us and many others out.

So, where does this leave us?, I have been contacted by many, many people wanting cells for the 2005 Nats. I would start looking around now for any cells that you can find. I would guess that many suppliers will be running out of cells soon.

We are sorry that we cannot meet your requirments. We feel that Trinity has lied and screwed us out of product delivery.

We do have GP3300 cells and can match these. We also may look into matching the IB3600 cells again.

sorry,

Steve Hill

Steve,

Sorry to hear about this. If past performance holds true, good cells will become much harder to get and quite a bit more expensive.

Brian :(

Looks like a good reason to go LiPoly and remove Trinity from the equation forever in R/C boats.

thanks

Steve

Trinity Batteries....cough, gag, choke

Matched 3700's....

$25 EACH........that's for ONE friggin' cell.

For cripes sake, their low end matched 3300's are $14 each.

Who are these people? A better question might be, who are the consumers that are stupid enough to pay those prices? The exchange rate isn't THAT bad.

Those are inflated so the dealers can charge you $100+ for a 6 pack at the hobby store. Trinity must be selling them, they are keeping all the stock for themselves. We are looking at a new IB cell in a week or so. IB3800, 470+ 1.17+. Our course I hear that Trinity also has an agreement with IB.

I am also working with someone that Trinity is not working with.

In the end, going LiPoly will eliminate Trinity from controlling the market. I look forward to NAMBA and the IMPBA moving forward with Lipoly, if not, someone can start a new org and get it done.

thanks

Steve

Isn't SMC the North American distributor of Intellect cells? Is Trinity trying to weasel into that spot also?

This is sad news. The biggest gathering of FE freaks and we can't get the cells. Well you could I guess if you want to pay $28/cell. I thnk that's what I just saw.

I would settle for bulk cells at this point.

at what point does the government declare them a monopoly?

I'm working on something guys. They might not have pretty wrappers though. I'll have to see how this turns out.

Brian

I've been using GP3300's bulk-zapped from Steve and I've been real happy. Going from these to a $12+ cell just can't do that much for me.

Thanks Steve for all your hard work and time in getting us affordable cells.

When, not if, the car guys go to Lipo's, Ernie will attempt to corner that end of the battery market, too.... He will dictate to the car sanctioning bodies (ROAR) as to when this transition will occur, and you can bet that it will not happen until he owns a large share of the US market. We would be fools to think that it is not in the works....

Patrick,

You are correct. I have heard that very thing from battery guys that claim to be in the know. For what ever that's worth.

It's sad that a single company can control the flow and pricing of an entire industry. I can't imagine how Trinity gets away with it.

Trinity is a power house.. If all of Fe stopped buy cells that came through or from them they probably wouldn't even notice.. Its sucks but, only the gov can smack them around to where they would care anyway

Here's a little story of how well Trinity supports the hobby:

When I went to the 1998 F5D pylon world championships in Germany. We as a team approached Trinity to see if we could BUY enough world class batteries for 12-7 cell packs of RC2000's (or 2400's can't remember). We didn't ask them to give us cells, just let us buy what was going to be competitive at the world championship level. That was enough for 4 packs per pilot, 1 flight per pack per day (good old NiCad's).

The answer was: "Trinity is not interested in assisting you".

GM (european distributor for Sanyo hobby cells) was supplying cells to the German team. The german pilots had practice packs that were significantly better than the best we could get over the counter. Robert Wimmer (3 time world champ) gave us a few practice packs to try. He looked at the numbers on the cells we were using, in his words "I wouldn't fly those battreies in practice".

Since then I've made it a point to never use Trinity products.

Just a little piece of history.

As long as we're bashing Trinity, here's a quote from a post that I made on the other forum for those who may have missed it. I manufactured R/C cars in the '90's under the name of Lightz Products.....

.....as well as their numerous attempts to monopolize the market and put the small manufacturers out of business. In the mid 90's my drag racing chassis sales dropped to almost zero, when E.P. dumped his drag chassis inventory, through Tower Hobbies, at less than 1/3 retail cost. They are also noted for their habit of stealing a manufacturers design, if the originator is not willing to sell to them at the unprofitable margins they request. Often they outright rip off a design without bothering to contact the originator.... ask me about the EV-10 rear suspension sometime....

I think many share your comments and dislike for Trinity.

The part of undercutting their competitors with cheaper products has been a habit of Ernie P. and his business practices. Seems like it is intended to cut out the little guy and give Ernie a chance to corner the market.

The unfortunate part is legal action against Ernie P. , would be a waste time and money on the accuser. He is so deep in money he can afford to splurge on his drivers. Not just in parts but in vehicles and travel expenses. I know one driver in his teens that has mysteriously went from asking me for gas money to get home to having a tricked out Japanese car after he joined Trinity. There was even a rumor that I think it was Sanyo, Ernie bought the President/CEO an expensive sports car to gain his favor. It may not be true, I tend to think it has happened.

The sad part about Trinity is they hype the magazines and those like Car Action cannot give a bad review to Trinity. Their rag looks like a Trinity catalog and everything Trinity makes looks very good. So suckers that swallow what Car Action has to say race to their LHS for those "great" parts.

For me I have tried banning Trinity products in my personal use. Usually it is easier to get their products immediately or in days than some one elses which takes weeks. When a big race is coming up and you need last minute parts, unfortunate Trinity wins out.

The bottom line if Trinity comes to Batavia offering 10,000 dollars or more to sponsor the race, I would decline their offer.

Raptor/Brian I see your point.

Some of Trinity's best 3300 matched packs (for cars) are only 1.17's - disgusting, especially when you notice how much money those 6 cells will cost you.

jstevens -

I feel the same way about RCCA. Im getting tired of reading how great all these Trinity products are, nothing EVER gets a bad review no matter how crappy it may be. Also - Trinity has way too many advertisements, id bet every fourth page has some form of Trinity ad.

The car stuff is way overpriced for what you get, probably due to Trinity. Thats part of the reason I like FE more than I ever did cars.

Is Trinity's deal with GP global or just in the US? Is there anywhere else in the world we can get cells?

Time for Lipoly's!

Dick

Time for Lipoly's!
amen.. but, how do we get it passed.

It would have to be submitted and supported by people like you Dick.. and thats easier said then done.

sorry just a bit pissed off right now because of a email I just got.
