How long, a shelf life on a opened can of 25 % Byron nitro I opened once & stored in a storage cabinet several years ago. Is it any good for anything I noticed the cost retail 13.99 our cost 10.99. A few years ago. The good thing about your hobbies you can leave & come back Every thing is still there the way you left it. Hearing loss has taken me away. Can't let your hobbies go

I asked the same question.bought some fuel from a local hobby shop called the manufacture and he told me it was mixed in 2000.I used the fuel last week and it seams fine to me. Thy told me that as long as it was sealed tight so no moisture can get in it should be good.

The fuel worked, will use as a test fuel or break in. It still had a good color.I rember, Nitro has A cooling feel when on your hand.

If it sits in the sun, Isn't sealed tight or absorbs moisture about the only thing its good for is killing weeds in the driveway cracks :D Greg

Another Old Timer used to have a canvas attached to his field box .kept his nitro out of the sun

And most importent keep your containers off the floor -- they WILL draw moisture
Henry
HENRY: I have heard of that senerio before from other boaters. Yet how does moisture get into the plastic jug if the lid is tight? Hope you are well? DAN

Good question !! The 360 sprint car car we run here we keep the 55 gal .drums " 100% methonol " off the concrete with 4x4 wood blocks .

back when I was running for Byron fuel they had info on there website as to how fast there jugs allowed moister to enter..

On the ground.. in a water puddle.. run the fuel..its fine.

This reminds me of an encounter a few years ago that I had with 2 "gentleman". I was running my 20 rigger at a pond one day when these 2 guys walked up and started a conversation with me about my boats. They asked me what type of fuel that I ran. I told them I was running 50% nitro and that it was over 3 years old. They immediately started arguing with me about how nitro goes bad within a year! I am standing there on the shoreline running my boat and said "Dude! Do you not see my boat out there running? It's running on 3 year old fuel!" And running quite well at that!

They just would not accept it as fact that the fuel was still good. I have been running boats since 1985 and have never had anybody argue with me like that. The situation was just ridiculous. They finally left. I just stood there shaking my head in disbelief.

I have and still use nitro that was sealed and moved from California in 1984. It is very clear and runs great. :)

So is the keep it off the ground thing a wife's tale ??
I keep mine off of the floor for the reason that as it warms up and cools down, it is possible for it to draw a partial vacuum on the container in cold conditions. This COULD contibute to the fuel absorbing moisture.

Maybe just in my mind, but it is hard to question success. :)
