I know it is early but Mr. Weather has some nice days planned for us! April in Huntsville (on average) is some of the best weather for fast boats! Nitro, gas, and even electrons will be used!

Paul

Don

Glenn, Thanks for the info about Martin. I just recently met him while he was here in So Ca for the race in Fontana. Nice Guy & very smart about the boats and cars he drives.

Set 2 records in the Super Sport Mono class what a PIA to the tech the engine for this class you have to even pull the bearing out to just check the seals to ensure a cheater hasn't pulled the springs off the seals. The things an honest boater has to go through because of the cheating that can go on.

I'm sure we'll get the results posted Wednesday after the event since it's daylight till 7pm we have not been getting home till around 9pm. Some very longs days.

Below are the things that have to be teched by 2 witnesses for the Super Sport mono class and the Classic Thunderboat class if they set a

record. Think about the extra parts you will need and tools for the engine tear down. Since you will be splitting the case and pulling bearings.

I'll post what the records ended up at Wednesday evening.

All engines must have a canister type can muffler. Modifications may be made to the inside of the muffler

if they will still meet the noise level limitations currently in place in the IMPBA Rule Book after modifications. If

a single hole or exhaust tube/stack out of the muffler is used, the inside diameter must not exceed ¾”. If dual

holes or exhaust tubes/stacks are used exiting the muffler, then the maximum inside diameter must not exceed

½” each. The canister type can muffler must be mounted directly to the exhaust flange of the engine. If a

spacer is used for cooling between the muffler and the flange, a maximum spacer thickness of one inch (1”)

will be allowed. Custom exhaust systems and or tuned pipes are not allowed.

Inspection to include all parts of motor:

1. Fasteners – Stock or Stainless

2. Gaskets – Thickness

Carburetor .017 to 0.023

Manifold .017 to .023

Case .017 to .019

Base – Barrel .014 to .016 may be copper or fiber

3. Seals – Springs

4. Bearings – Stock

5. Flywheel – Thickness .800 - .810 – Keyway .121

6. Crank Rod Piston and Ring – Keyway .121

7. Intake Manifold – Thickness

Manifold .690 to .702 (Allow to sand gasket sealing area only to make flat)

8. Ignition Parts – Color – Slotted Holes

9. Case to Crank Shaft Top .910

10. Barrel Depth 2.025

11. Must have original cooling cap, painting, anodizing, and etching ok.

12. 34mm (1.338 inch) bore, 28mm (1.102 inch) stroke

Bill,

If am reading this right, IMPBA does not allow tuned pipes in the Classic Thunderboat class. Is this correct?

Don

Bil it would best be said that tuned pipes are allowed in Thunderboat. The word NO looks confusing......

Who made such a bad set of rules for a IMPBA boat class. I do remember voting no on this class but I guess it got passed anyway. I remember a famous racer that always said. "There is no room for a Stock class in IMPBA" quoted "Fred McBroom". the reason is that it promotes cheating.
