Are you sure those are Hughey? All of the shafts from Ed have a shinny or silver looking stub. I have a few Aeromarine shafts that have a darker stub similar to your picture. Sorry, not trying to give you a hard time, but I also want to know what I am buying...

Can you take a closer picture of one at the stub end?
