This evening about an hour before dark I got to drive a rigger for the first time and man I tell you what, fun to drive.

It is a cajun bullet with a purple head cmb 80, I think, that has been worked. I bought the boat from SayMikey at the 08 Internats and just have had time to or the nerve to take it out for a test drive. Hit the pipe and that sucker was gone, my dad said ( ##### ), I was just trying to keep my eyes on the darn thing, super fast and turns like a Ferrari. thanks so much for the buy Mikey, now I have Hobby Pox X2.

My question is the radio box under the pipe. I taped up the top and was sealed but water got in anyway and messed up the 3rd channel and that was that.

How do you water tight these things. Mikey said he got it from someone else so if you read this maybe he can help me or hopefully you.

Thanks in advance,

Doug

Some times its hard to find where the water is getting in. I had a leak in a twin that drove me CRAZY!! Then I changed the way I was thinking, instead of looking where the water was getting in I filled up the radio box full of water and BAM there it was. This is also a good time to check the water line. Crimp one end, blow and look for bubbles. I check all my boxes this way and even when they pass I still pack in some paper towels just in case. Good luck with the boat, I love my two Bullets. Ryon Shaw

Actually It is a CMB 1 CUBE. I am the one Who originally owned the boat.I would take all of your servos and radio gear out of the radio box and then pour water in the radio box and see where it comes out.Be sure to check the seals real good because they will sometimes tear causing a leak.
Hope this helps and glad you like the boat.

Doug that boat was a 1.0 cube motor. Should rock with a 1667. As far as a leak check the pushrod seals and look around the stuffing tube and corners of the box. A dried out seal could be the cause......

thanks guys,

I will check all that out and let you know what I find.

Test & tune day at the club pond is Sunday and can't wait to drive that thing again. It is acually my dad's but he said he ain't drivin it, so yeah, sure am glad I bought it for him

Doug

If it has a tube for the antenna wire, pull the cap, put it under water and blow in the tube.

Your leak(s) will show up right away.

If you have a wire antenna (not the best IMHO) but have a water line that you can take off in the box, use that instead. No need to take the equipment out, long as your blowing bubbles water can't get in.

Enjoy your new hotrod! :p

Doug,

Welcome to the land of the big dog racing. May want to get a box of Depends until you get used to the speeds. And a much larger supply of fuel.

Are you going to race it in Greensboro?

hi, i know it sounds crazy and rude, but i have been using tampons in my radio boxes for a long time. they work very well! some times it is the top

of the radio box's finsh(paint or clear coat) that is the problem, besides al the other things that have been mentioned. always clean deck and cover with alchol or prep sol.

good luck and love every min of the "BIG HP" world of flying 2x4's!! mike.

John,

Heck no I'm not racing it at Greensboro, If I'm on the pond with this thing it is by myself and no one with-in 100ft of the shore line. Gonna have to get back on the x-box and brush up the ol hand eye coordination. Almost needed those depends when it was rounding buoy 5 and decided to go on the pipe

As far as the fuel goes, yeah it takes a bit more, but ain't it worth it ! ! !

Too late Terry, I got the bug and already took everything out and tested and found that I believe I need to get wider box tape and a new antenna tube boot, there was some pre-existing residue from cranking at the house before leaving so that had a major factor I am sure. All of the boots and seals are great. So hopefully the servo will dry out and be okay, if not it is off to the hobby shop Sat.

Thanks for the idea Mike, might have to try that out if I can't get a good seal.

If you don't start racing it, will have to start to think you are a relative of Frank Perdue, and start calling you Chicken Man!! LOL. Yes it's worth every drop of fuel.

Take radio box out like they said make sure you tape it good and seal where push rods come through then put in your sink let it set for a while oh put some paper toweling in it the leak will show up.

hey doug, a little more food for thought, some guys do not seal the boot where the push rod comes out. i get the servo to full extend and a little drop of med or thick c/a. also i do not like ant tubes out the radio box top.very small hole out rear of box and silicne close on both sides. remote ant mount on boat. mike.

Hey Doug....take the servo apart and soak it in denatured alcohol for a couple of minutes. Then blow it off and let it sit for a while. Worked for me.

FYI

I had a leak in my twin. It caused the boat to hit the beach. I rebuilt the boat and started running it again only to find that the radio box still leaked. Changed seals and checked all the known places. Everything I did, did not fix the problem. Finally I took the sponsons off and filled the bathtub up. I used the blow through the tube with the radio box lid tape down method. I could not see any leaking any where. There was very slight leaking through the tape corners but that was because of all the pressure I was blowing. I was stumped. Just then I let the back of the boat tilt up. There was a big bubble of air that popped to the surface from the transom. There was a leak at one of the stuffing box tubes in the radio box. I ended up mixing up a batch of west system. I pour a bunch in the bottom of the radio box and heated it up with a heat gun. I put the lid back on and blew through the tube to get the epoxy into the gap. The rest of the epoxy settled out and filled the bottom of the radio box and the problem went away.

Mike

Thanks for all the tips guys, doing test & tune on Sunday afternoon and it just can't seem to get here quick enough.

and John, I will race that boat, just not until I feel comfortable out with other boats, and then

Terry`s post is dead on. Tape the radio box back Up & Apply a little postive pressure to the interior of the box while holding the tub under water. Antenna or a water line will do the trick... Where the bubbles come out the water is coming IN..... p.s you suppose to haul your checkbook in the radio box to keep it dry. Not your tampon!

Took it out for a spin yesterday. I need some tuning help, but the radio box stayed completely dry which was a good thing.

On the 3rd channel fuel mix valve which way is leaner. I messed with it and it seemed that moving it toward the front of the boat it was leaner, got it running but could not get on the pipe. When I ran it the first time after about 3/4 lap the pipe kicked in so not sure why it would not on Sunday. Very new to this type of boat so,

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Doug

Doug,

What brand of needle unit and which side of the boat is it mounted? Each brand works different from another.
