Putting together my first .80 mono. Hull is a new MicroBurst 45". Eng. is a Steve Wood preped CMB. Just checked the balance point @ 32% (dry)ahead of transom(with all hardware excepting the pushrods and exh. coupler). Tank is a Walt Barney 23.6 Oz. Pipe is a AB 67 Muffled @ 12". I have a X457/3 and a X460/3 to try. Currently running @ 4300' elevation.Like I said advice welcome.

Thanks,

Glenn Gates

Honestly Glenn I think the hull is too long for the motor you are using. If it doesn't work out well for you I would put in the evo2 if you still have it. Try using a 462, 465, or a 467.

I'm no expert, but if it's a heat racing boat, a 45" long .80 boat is probably good. I'm building a 44" Seaducer with a O.S. 91. Jerry recommended the 44" hull for stability in heat racing water. My O.S. will probably make less hp than your preped CMB .80.

Thanks Cliff, Andy Brown recomended a 91 VAC. Already sold the evo2 to Shanes brother. Just trying to get by with what I have. This one I might be able to keep right side up

Craig, Let me know how the 91 works out I still have a couple of the 91's. One thing I failed to mention is that the wind blows at Decker lake about half the time. Just wanted something bigger to play with when I have to put the smaller boats away.

Seaducer's website recomends a x460/2 for a .60 and a x462/2 for a .80. Even though you are at a high elevation, the x457/3 seems like it would be too small.

Who makes the M90 and M91 props that Seaducer recomends for the .90/1.01 engines? ABC? How do they compare with the x series props? What are their pitches in inches? Thanks.

Craig, The M90 is 2.56 Dia X 4.096 Pitch, The M91 is 2.64 Dia X 3.696 Pitch. Both are 1/4" bore ABC props. The Octura X460 is 2.36 Dia X 3.302 Pitch and the X462 is 2.44 Dia X 3.417 Pitch-and 3/16 bore.

Made a mistake on the M90- Dia is 2.56"

Glenn, I broke the rod on my O.S. 91 yesterday. :( I had about 7 tanks through it, not sure what happened. The piston and sleeve need to be replaced too, since they got damaged. I did notice that there was slop in the rod at the crankshaft when the engine was brand new. You could hear it when turning the motor over slowly. I never did anything since I trusted O.S. tolerances. But, not sure if that caused it or not... My dilema is that the new O.S. rod will probably have the same bad tolerances and I don't want to break parts again.

Have you run your .80 yet? I might go with a CMB .80 if I decide not to fix the O.S.. The .80 is a tad cheaper than the .91's.
