Hi Guys!

I'm getting ready to paint a foam hull I got from some NUT. Although the hull has been nicely built, I didn't like the color. While I was sanding the Epoxy "gel coat", I sanded through to the foam in a few small areas. Is there anthing I have to do to cover these areas other than brush on a couple coats of epoxy resin?

Also.......

Should I use a laquer primer over the entire hull before I use a base coat/ clear coat automotive color , or just go right over the wet sanded epoxy??

Hi Bob

Once you have a couple of coats of epoxy back on (and go easy on the sanding ;) ) you should use a 2 pak epoxy sealer/primer for a really good base before you get to the colours.

I would go with the epoxy primer first over whole boat, and then do color and then clear coat. Stick with the same BRANDS Of paint, I have ran across some paints that dont mix with eachother, and its like you put paint stripper on it.

make sure that foam is sealed good with the epoxy first.

Florensent yellow you didnt like?

:D

Hull was done with West Systems epoxy. Sand lightly and coat with primer..

Heck, even a FOOL could handle that..
