Just talked to Jeff Stevens and he told me that Chris Fines of http://www.finedesignrc.com said that Batavia is not a true event without being NAMBA Sanctioned, it's just grass roots.
The Chicago area race has been around since the mid 80's. I first read about fast electrics in RCBM. Yes, you can call it Grass Roots, in fact you can call it the beginning of fast electric racing.
Batavia was once in the IMPBA but felt that it offered no real value for racers since they could obtain Insurance for the event. Many that raced there only raced at this event and the IMPBA membership fees offered no value. Not joining NAMBA is in the same reasoning.
Chris Fines not supporting Batavia?
This is just another good example of what I have thought all along, certain vendors try to control racers with rules created around products they sell. No NAMBA sanction, no support. Just say no Chris, don't slam the event that many of us have supported for years and years.
You can be certain that I won't suggest Fine Design to anyone in the future.
