The IMPBA Board last evening approved a name change request from the Charleston Model Boaters to the:

CHARLESTON FALL NATIONALS

With this designation, IMPBA now has a premier nationals race in the spring (Atlanta) and the fall (Charleston) surrounding the International Regatta in the summer. The CMB challenge is to stage a race worthy of this designation and we are well on our way. With 2.5 months to go before the race, we have 156 boat entries with a 200 boat limit. I fully expect a sellout within a month. For those that have attended our World OB Tunnel Championship Races in the past, all know how good a race the CMB puts on, and we shall do the same for the Fall Nationals.

Many thanks to several that made it happen - Marty Davis, Don Ferrette, Kevin Sheren and Doug Dalme, especially, and to the entire board as well, by granting us this designation. We shall not let IMPBA down.

Entry form with the new name is attached but either one will work fine.

That is SUPER news. Should be an awesome event with the potential of legacy proportions. :)

that's very good news, john. i'm glad ya'll were able to make nice :p . does seem more fitting, atlanta & charleston sharing a "name style" to frame the internats, as you put it. i, for one, know you will represent impba & your club in great style! won't be able to make the fall race, but am looking foward to mailing my entry for the '09 tunnel champs!!!!!!
