Olly there is no BEST. The option is for you to figure out. Driving stylee and boat handling make for different results. BEST............answer will be at the lake testing.

I bought both and tested.Like strait on 90 but run tapered on 60 and gas. But most guys will tell you tapered because they like what it dose for the boat the way they drive.

Which is the best rudder for a F mono? The straight one or the tapered one like Jerry used to sell?

Thanks

Olly
I say it depends on what prop you run. I dont run a High lift prop & a Taper (high lift) blade @ the same time. If you mod the prop for Low lift then you should consider a taper blade. the Rudder length & size & Shape is a big tuning tool for a mono.....jw.. B)

hi joe, please elaborate a little which blade does what and why? thanks, mike.

Thanks guys

I guess I'll have to burn some fuel under race conditions to see which is best. Right now I am running a straight rudder but it doesn't corner well. If I use a tapered rudder can I use it at full length? I am running a Sholund X465 V cut prop right now.

Olly .............just based on that I would say check your strut settings. Two different

people running the same hull with both rudders and both RAIL the corners. And I run high lift props.

If the rudder bracket is mounted on the transom @ seaducer Spec? cut it about 3/4 below the water inlet hole & Go to a X467

Mike all tapered blades crawl up out of the water @ Speed looking for less resistance....... we have videoed this many times. I personally like the taper blades on the F mono`s

Thanks guys

Not to get off track but , Joe I thought you or some else told me at one time the x465 allowed the boat to corner better than a x467 ?

Or did I get it backwards........

again :p

Not me Andy......... I Race a Sholund Prepped X467 in F mono class. When we raced K90 engines. We would drill out a X465 to 1/4 & race it in F mono. the Rs91 & Rs101`s will swing way more prop than a K90

Guys,

The way these motors are making HP I would start thinking X-470 reduced.

I would try both rudders myself Olly, and see what the difference is on

your boat. The X-467 is just a starter set up. :D

Just remember if you don't try new set ups(strut changes)you will never learn much more

on that boat. :D Slow is not an option, but you gotta get her to turn real well first.

Have Fun Testing,

Mark Sholund
