In my opinion and experience the list would be:

1. MGM

2. Castle if you are willing to modify

3. Swordfish

4. Etti

5. Seaking

6. YEP

There are other esc but I have not used them.

I personally had bad luck with the Swordfish ESC's in my Q-SGX. In the beginning of running this brand name I burned up 2Qt ESC's. To solve burned up ESC's (Swordfish) or Turnigy ESC that timed out and quit after a few laps I went with the Castle ESC in my Q-SGX and problems with ESC's burning up or stalling out solved. The primary issue now is getting hold of Castle ESC that are no longer produced to my knowledge. I had a club member help me about a year ago or more with converting a Castle airplane ESC to marine application by attaching cooling banks to the Castle ESC.

I ran a Seaking today with 5000 4S batteries in my Q-Sport Wipelash with no problems. I am going to order some 3000 6S next to see how the Seaking holds up with larger batteries.

Who makes the best in your opinion? Seaking, Swordfish etc.

Brad
Anything that works, but I have used the chinese cheapo airplane versions for my airplanes and all have worked great. Some of these things are way overpriced because of supply and demand.

They all burn up if you use too much battery or more than they are designed for.

I have a swordfish 300 pro in my smokin joes 1/8th and it works fine.

I was thinking of 120A so I could have it incase a larger motor is used. Looking for suggestions of manufactures and what options to get? Raptor347 you have a PM.

Thanks

Brad

I've run a lot of the 120 amp Turnigy Marine (Seaking) ESCs. The secret compared to similar 120 amp controllers is their very high burst current rating. I also must say that I got a bad controller out of the box. However, it's hard to beat their capability for the cost. I love the Castle data logging feature. Added water cooling (see picture) ups the rating, but Castle won't support using aircraft controllers in boats.
