Guys,

Am relocating in a couple of months. Still have many cans of K&B and Hobbypoxy paint left and I intend to ship them. The temperature at this part of the world would be well below freezing by then. Would the paint (pigment and catalyst) be spoiled spending up to a week in a moving truck in sub zero temperature?

Thanks,

Kez

Oh, while I have your attention, will it be a good idea to ship a fiberglass boat in sub zero temp? All my boats are sealed airtight in front of the front bulkhead. I am afraid that the cold temp will cause the air to contract and the atmospheric pressure will try to collasp the deck. A second concern is that the glass might rutn brittle.

Appreciate your thoughts/experience on this.

Since epoxy paint contains no water, "freezing" is a broad term. I couldn't say what temperature would cause it to go bad, but it will probably be ok at the temps you refer to. I do know it must be used at near room temp to catalyze when actually mixing for use. good luck :)

I used K&B Superpoxy for years.

After mixing the two parts and painting a boat I would store the excess Mixed paint in the freezer for up to six months or more.

It would get like thick suryp.

When I needed to use it later I would place the container of paint into hot water. Once it was warm it was ready to use again.

Amazing, but it worked perfectly.

Sure do miss that old K&B Superpoxy. Good stuff.
