a member of our club has electric proboat cat , blackjack , boat runs great until he uses full throtle , then it stops dead...out of the water , it will run full throtle , in the water at full throtle it dies....any idea why ?....thanks....bob

Bob,

Is he running too big of a prop?

Can he 'reset' the controller?

Maybe his battery packs are not able to put out much power at the top end, so the voltage drops and causes the controller to cut off

Thats what I'm thinking. Tell him to check the speed controller settings for battery cutoff voltage. Is he using Lipo or Nimh?

kris , he s using the prop that came with the boat , i'll check if he can reset the controller...he started having problems the second day out...the first time out the boat ran great...thanks for the advise....bob

The one of the advantages that Lipo's have over Nimh is they hold their voltage better when under load. Don't know what the default voltage cutoff setting is on the BJ controller, but I would guess that's where the problem lies.

your friend has a bad esc. He needs to send that one back to proboat. If he bought it new they should replace it under warranty.
a big 'THANK YOU" to every one who offered to help...our member needed to have his esc reset...his proboat electric cat is running great....bob
