HOWEVER we've had over 10" of rain in less than 3 weeks & with the ground being sooo saturated the biggest concern is it ain't gonna take very much to knock down a bunch of trees. Va. Dominion Power says they are very concerned with getting any sustained winds over 30-40 mph. Charley has not weakened as much as forecasters hoped & we are now under a tropical storm warning which is 39-73mph sustained wind speeds. Last year Isabel KO'd this area not because of the rain but from downed trees. I spent 9 1/2 days without electricity & needless to say I'm going out shortly to fill up the gas cans & prep the new generator I bought after last year's fiasco.

And ONLY 60 mph? To put it in proper perspective, stick your face out the car window @ 60 & see what you think.....

Thanks to the well wishers, I hope we have power in the morning........

My wife's step mother lives in Punta Gorda but fortunately she was away when it hit. They are not letting her return until they finish the rescue efforts.

It's odd that the news is only showing the trailer parks in the area when most of the homes in Punta Gorda are well over $500k homes.

last tornado warning goes out of effect as of 7:05.......looks like this is pretty much over in a few minutes.

hope everyone I know is Safe-N-Sound down south

Joe,

My dad owns two condo's in Punta Gorda. He got a call Friday afternoon from the commissioner of his condo association. They told him that they'd lost portions of both the buildings my dad owns. He's planning on a trip to sunny Florida as soon as they'll let him in.......

Thanks. Brad.
