I was looking at my directions and they were saying to put two layers of 3/4oz fiberglass cloth on the bottom of the engine compartment and the tank compartment. Has anyone used carbon fiber instead? I would like to hear any pros or cons.

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks Tom,

Actually I found a Demon and it should be on it's way to me. It was one of the original 3D hulls sitting in the WIndow of a Coin and Stamp hobby store in WI.

I am damn impressed with Andy's work. I got both 45s litterally ready for paint. The workmanship in the boats is beyond my capabilities and that is saying a lot. I have to say this is one of the first times that I have recieved a product that significantly exceeded my expectations. It was worth the wait for sure.

David my SGX 45 boat has just two 3/4 oz laywers in those areas but I also use to reinforce the radio bulkhead and the transon.with c.f..Good luck with your new toy and I'm sure you will have a lot of fun.

The Picco induction is inline. Mocked up in my .45 SGX the bell of the carb venturi misses contacting the tube by about the thickness of a sheet of notebook paper. The tube is doubled up at that point, and it may be possible to make a relief cut in the outer tube with out sacrificing the structural integrity to allow clearance for shimming the rear tube for sponson aoa adjustment, and provide clearance for the venturi of the carb. I'm not sure what changes were made to the tub layout between the SGX and the SGX 2 so your boat may be different than mine.
